Alongside our student-led lessons, 3rd and 4th Class have been diving into a highly practical money revision project this week—planning a dream holiday!
Day 1 kicked off with the children choosing their ultimate travel destinations and getting down to the serious business of budgeting. They researched and priced real flights, working out the costs for one adult versus the total for an adult and a child.
This project is packed with fantastic real-world maths learning, including:
- Estimating and Rounding: Converting tricky, exact flight prices into easier numbers to work with.
- Addition and Multiplication: Calculating total costs when adding a child's ticket to an adult's ticket, or figuring out return trip pricing.
- Comparing Value: Analyzing different airlines or travel dates to find the best possible deal.
The engagement has been sky-high, and the children are seeing exactly how important maths is in everyday life. We can't wait to see where Day 2 takes our budgets!
